Dedham Public Library

The Dedham Public Library is a rapidly evolving and highly adaptable public service organization, deeply committed to delivering phenomenal customer service.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, extremely dedicated, self-motivated, collaborative professional to spearhead the evolution of the Dedham Public Library’s outreach, programming, and services to special populations including:

- physically handicapped

- neuroatypical

- homeless

- gifted and talented

- underserved

- other populations as identified


The CAP: Special Populations will be involved in the conception, design, and execution of new library services, programs, features, and experiences, as well as helping to adapt existing ones, in order to make the Dedham Public Library more inclusive, more accessible, and more friendly to people with unique needs and challenges. They will form meaningful partnerships with local community organizations to enhance the public library’s capacity to serve special populations and to advance health and wellness priorities within the community.


Reporting directly to the Library Director, User and Access Manger, Collections and Circulation Manager as well as work closely with the rest of the library team.


They will perform all other library work (circulation, reference, and programming) and participate in special library projects as required or necessary.


Background desired:

- Experience with adaptive technologies

- Experience designing, planning, and implementing programs and services for special populations

- Kind, patient, flexible, convivial, innovative

- Experience working with a diverse user community inclusive of all ages, ashes, abilities, and backgrounds

-Ability to thrive in an ever-changing, fast-paced, collaborative environment

-Superior communication skills

-Library experience preferred


Part-time position: 20 hours/week in evenings and weekends
