SPRAGUE STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENT NOTICE TO ABUTTERS SPS New England Inc., would like to keep you informed of the upcoming work schedule on the Sprague Street Bridge Replacement Project. Over the next several weeks foundation work for the new Temporary Pedestrian Bridge will be taking place. This work consists of driving piles and steel sheeting. The work will take place Monday thru Friday between the hours of 7:00AM and 3:30 PM. At no time will Industrial Way be closed to traffic but there could be occasional delays. The erection of the Temporary Pedestrian Bridge will take approximately one week to complete and most of the work will take place nights or weekends. There will be minor disruptions to traffic when the spans over the roadway are set. We will try to schedule this part of the work at night or on a Saturday to mitigate impacts. We will send a separate notice out before this work takes place. Following the construction and opening of the Temporary Pedestrian Bridge, Sprague Street will be shutdown for a period of 18 – 20 months to build the new Replacement Bridge. The closing of Sprague Street is tentatively scheduled for the week of January 1, 2007.
Demolition of the old bridge will be the first operation to take place after the closing of the road. This work will be conducted nights and weekends to mitigate the impacts to Industrial Way and the Mass Bay Commuter Rail (MBCR). Again, a separate notice will be sent out when the actual dates for the work are set. SPS New England Inc., will do their best to keep you informed of the progress of the work and to keep disruptions to traffic, and other problems to a minimum.
