2011 All America City Finalist Quilt

Please join us in celebrating the 2011 All America City Finalist Quilt when it comes to Dedham as part of the nationwide tour in recognition of all the Finalist communities across the United States. Dedham was the only community in New England to be named a Finalist in 2011. There will be a reception at the Dedham Square Artist Guild on Wednesday, March 14th from 5:00-7:00 PM, and refreshments will be served. We are also planning a special presentation to the two local women who handcrafted the Dedham quilt square for us, Deborah Arscott and Kathleen Bombara. It took approximately 20 hours to make and features all three types of appliqué: hand appliqué, machine appliqué and iron appliqué plus hand embroidery and thread painting.

   

The All America Quilt will be on display in Dedham at the Town Hall and at the Artist Guild before continuing on the tour, we will be shipping it to the next stop, Ann Arbor, Michigan and it has come to us from Scott City, Kansas.
