Town Administrator

The Town Administrator serves as the chief administrative officer of the town, and is directly responsible to the Board of Selectmen for the administration of all town affairs for which the office of the Administrator is given responsibility by the Dedham Home Rule Charter. More specifically, the Town Administrator is responsible for
 

  • The efficient administration of town functions and activities;
  • Appoints of a number of department heads, commissions, boards and committees;
  • Administers the town personnel system and negotiates collective bargaining agreements with town employee unions;
  • Has jurisdiction over the rental and use of town facilities;
  • Prepares and presents the annual operating budget and proposed capital outlay program;
  • Serves as the town’s chief procurement officer; and related duties.
