Zoning Board of Appeals The Zoning Board of Appeals is appointed by the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Dedham to hear petitions for appeal to either affirm or reverse the actions of the Building Commissioner or Planning Board; for variances or special permits which are required under the Town of Dedham Zoning Bylaw; and for special permits required under the Town of Dedham Sign Bylaw. The Board functions in accordance with Chapter 40A of the Massachusetts General Laws. The Board publishes, posts, and notifies the public at large and the abutters. Deliberations and decisions are rendered in accordance with the Bylaws and the Massachusetts General Laws. All activities of the Board are conducted in open meeting, in accordance with Chapter 39 of the Massachusetts General Laws. Members: James F. McGrail, Esq., Chairman J. Gregory Jacobsen Scott M. Steeves E. Patrick Maguire, LEED AP Jason L. Mammone, P.E. Jessica L. Porter, Associate The Zoning board of Appeals would like to acknowledge the passing of long-time Associate Member JH Rumpp, who passed away at age 48 in 2013. His knowledge, discernment, and dedication is sorely missed. It is the Zoning Board of Appeals' goal to treat all individuals fairly and courteously. Each appeal is heard and decided on its own merit. The Zoning Board of Appeals may, however, be limited in their authority, if any, to grant a special permit or variance from the Zoning Bylaw. Administrative Assistant: Susan Webster
