The Dedham Planning Board is responsible for preparing and updating the Town Master Plan. This includes the following:

 

-          Preparing a comprehensive Master Plan, including an economic development supplement, in conformity with the requirements of MGL c.41 s.81d.

  

-          Reviewing, revising, and updating the Master Plan on an interim basis at least once every five years and publishing the revised and updated document on the Town of Dedham website.

  

-          Undertaking a comprehensive review of the Master Plan and preparing revisions and updates at least once every ten years, taking into account all elements required by MGL c.41 s.81d and data from the most recent decennial census from the United States Census Bureau.

  

-          In addition, at the time of the comprehensive review of the Master Plan, the Planning Board is responsible for undertaking studies of other current plans and policies including the Open Space Plan, Zoning By-Laws, and rules and regulations of all other Town commissions and boards, and reviewing them for consistency with the policies, forecasts, and standards of the Master Plan. The Planning Board is also responsible for proposing to relevant Town commissions and boards changes and revisions to rules and regulations to achieve consistency with the Master Plan, and proposing to Town Meeting measures that will promote the policies, forecasts, and standards of the Master Plan and consistency between the Master Plan and other Town plans, bylaws, rules, and regulations.
