The Design Review & Advisory Board

The Design Review Advisory Board is an appointed Board that serves as a community resource providing information, recommendations, and professional design review for individual projects in order to:

• Maintain and improve the overall character and appearance of the Town;
• Encourage the reduction of visual clutter, uncoordinated or inappropriate development through knowledge of the community's historic traditions, existing structures and environment, and proven design principles; and
• Work with other Town agencies, boards, and interest groups in their efforts to improve the quality of life in Dedham.

The Town Charter; Chapter 18 Section 9.6 of the Zoning By-Laws, defines what items/projects need to apply for review by the Design Review and Advisory Board. Commercial property owners will find the following manual a useful place to start:

The Design Review and Advisory Board includes design professionals with backgrounds in architecture, landscape, graphic design and development that volunteer to work with project owners during the planning and approval process

DRAB Meetings are normally scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month.  They are held in the Lower Conference Room of the Town Hall unless otherwise indicated.  Please plan your submissions accordingly. We require all application materials to be in our office one (1) week prior. Please find online forms using the menu at left
