Tree Removal Hearing - Boulevard Road/Monroe Street

In Accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87 section 3; Public Shade Trees, the Department of Public Works (DPW) is holding a public hearing on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Endicott Estate (656 East Street, Dedham) to discuss the removal of trees.

This public hearing is to discuss the removal of seven (10) trees on Boulevard Rd and three (3) trees on Monroe Street, as outlined below at the following locations, with the reason(s) for removal identified for each tree:

 Boulevard Rd:

  • 66 Boulevard Road Norway Maple
    • Hollows in Branches / Decay
  • 69 Boulevard Rd Norway Maple
    • Split Tree in trunk / Hollows / Decay
  • 56 Boulevard Rd Front Left Norway Maple
    • Hollows / Girdling roots / Damaged Trunk and Decay
  • 55 Boulevard Rd Norway Maple
    • Tree has significant lean / multi stem / Decay
  • 46 Boulevard Rd Norway Maple front right
    • Growing through wires / Girdling Roots / Decay
  • 49 Boulevard Rd Norway Maple
    • Poor Branch Unions / Decay / Girdling Roots
  • 39 Boulevard Rd Sugar Maple
    • Large wound in the base
  • 29 Boulevard Rd Norway Maple
    • Hollows and Decay
    • Crown Dieback
  • 21 Boulevard Rd Norway Maple Front Left
    • Hollows / Decay Insects
  • Corner Boulevard and Mt Vernon Norway Maple
    • Crown Dieback / Split in trunk / Hollows and Decay

Monroe Street  

  • 109 Monroe St Norway Maple left of front door
    • Decay / Crown Dieback
  • 110 Monroe St Sugar Maple
    • Hollows / Decay / Roots Girdling / Insects
  • 123 Monroe St Sugar maple
    • Decay / Crown Dieback / Limbs falling

The DPW Team will be planting trees on these streets in the fall of 2025 if the weather and available stock cooperates and if not then we will plant in early Spring 2026.
