Town Manager opening attracts 34 applicants
A report from Dan Driscoll, chair of the Search Committee:
The Search Committee met again on Tuesday, May 28, to review the 34 resumes received by Community Paradigm Associates, the executive recruitment firm engaged by the Town.
The Committee was pleased with the number and quality of the candidates and thanked consultants Bernie Lynch, Sharon Flaherty, and John Petrin for their efforts on behalf of the Town.
In thinking about how to narrow the field, Committee members decided to focus on those candidates whose background and experience most closely matched Dedham’s needs, based on our own understandings and ideas expressed in our two Community Forums.
The Committee selected eight candidates for the next step and asked the consultants to do a deeper review of their qualifications. Our goal is to narrow the field to candidates who not only have demonstrated the ability to manage the affairs of a town Dedham's size and complexity, but would also have strong communication skills and an ability to work with Dedham’s many boards and committees. We are also looking for a Town Manager who can continue to focus on strong financial management while continuing to make improvements in the Town’s quality of life.
The Committee will meet again in June to begin interviewing candidates.
So far, the Committee and our consultants are keeping to the schedule we set out for ourselves at the beginning of this critical process.
