Fourth Quarter Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Deadline Extended to June 1
The Town of Dedham has extended the due date for fourth quarter real estate and personal property tax payments, for both commercial and residential property, in response to COVID-19.
This extension applies only to fourth quarter payments, which were to be due on May 1. That deadline has been extended to June 1, 2020.
In addition, the Town will waive interest and penalties for the late payment fourth quarter real estate tax and personal property tax where payment is made June 1 through June 29.
If fourth quarter bills are not paid by June 29, interest will accrue back to June 1. Also, interest on unpaid tax bills for other quarters will continue to accrue.
This extension does not apply to sewer bills or the excise tax bills that were due March 9.
On a related note, the deadline for tax exemptions and deferrals has also been extended to June 1, 2020. Tax relief is available only to taxpayers who meet specific criteria. This may include veterans, legally blind persons, seniors, and surviving spouses and minor children of a deceased parent or veteran. See more information on tax relief and application forms. If you have questions about tax relief, please call the Assessors Department, (781) 751-9130.
Town offices are currently closed to the public, but payment may be made several ways:
