The MassDOT Project team will begin replacing curbs and sidewalks along portions of Bussey Street, north and south of the bridge currently under construction, on Monday, April 8. The Project Team has sent letters to abutters to alert them to the upcoming work, outlined below:
Work will include the following:
- South of Bussey Street Bridge (from 193 Bussey Street to 225 Bussey Street):
- Remove existing curbs and sidewalks on both sides of street
- Install new curbs and sidewalks on both sides of street
- Work will occur on one side at a time
- Anticipated completion time: Two weeks (weather permitting); to begin April 8th
- North of Bussey Street Bridge (7 Bussey Street toward bridge):
- Remove existing curbs and sidewalks on both sides of street
- Install new curbs and sidewalks on both sides of street
- Access to driveways may be intermittently blocked to install new concrete driveways
- Work will occur on one side at a time
- Anticipated completion time: Seven to Eight weeks (weather permitting); to begin April 15th
For all construction, please note the following:
- Vehicular traffic may be reduced to one late at a time during construction; alternating traffic
- Police Details will be onsite throughout duration of construction
- This phase of work is estimated to be complete by the end of May
- Signage will be posted ahead of work zones to direct pedestrians to cross where safely designated during sidewalk construction
