Bussey Street Bridge Closure/Detours Begin Monday

MassDOT will be closing the Bussey Street bridge over Mother Brook in Dedham for two years for roadway reconstruction

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing the closure of the Bussey Street Bridge located over Mother Brook in Dedham. The bridge closure will be in place from Monday, September 18, through Spring 2025, and is needed to support roadway reconstruction and related work.

Pedestrian access will be maintained over the existing bridge during construction. A temporary detour plan will be in place to guide drivers with appropriate detours.  

The Town of Dedham has created a Bussey Street Bridge project page to help share updates and information provided by MassDOT and the Project Team. The project page also includes links to past public meetings, recordings, and copies of presentations and handouts produced by MassDOT.

TEMPORARY DETOUR - BUSSEY STREET BRIDGE OVER MOTHER BROOK

Vehicles will be detoured to the following routes during bridge construction:

  • High Street to Maverick Street to Colburn Street to Bussey Street
  • Sawmill Lane to Dedham Boulevard to Harding Terrace to Colburn Street to Bussey Street

Note: Access to all properties along Bussey Street, INCLUDING CONDON PARK, will be maintained during construction while the bridge is closed.

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advance message boards will be in place to guide travelers through the work area. MassDOT encourages drivers to seek alternate routes, reduce speed, and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
