Upcoming Impacts - January 2025
East Street Roadway Closures
The MBTA's contractor, P. Gioioso & Sons, will be closing one lane of East Street during daytime hours from 7 AM to 3 PM each day on Monday, January 6 through Friday, January 10. This work is necessary so crews can conduct roadway utility work and paving.
In addition to the single-lane closure, some Commuter Rail parking spaces on Grant Avenue, near the East Street intersection, will be temporarily unavailable during this period.
Overnight Single Track Commuter Rail Closure
Overnight work for micropile testing is anticipated from 9 PM on Friday, January 10 through 4 PM on Saturday, January 11, and 9 PM on Friday, January 17 through 4 PM on Saturday, January 18.
Commuter Rail service and roadway access will be maintained but there may be noise impacts from this work.
Travel Tips
Those traveling through the area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution.
Weather and unexpected circumstances make all construction activities subject to change without notice, but we will do our best to keep you updated.
About the Project
The Dedham East Street Bridge carries the Franklin Line over East Street between Dedham Corporate Center and Endicott Stations. The MBTA will be replacing it with a new bridge that will meet the MBTA’s reliability and modernization standards.
