MBTA East St Bridge Project Updates

The following information was provided by the MBTA East Street Bridge Project team on Friday, March 14, through their Project Notification List:

Upcoming Impacts - March 2025

East Street Roadway Closures

Single Lane Closures

The MBTA's contractor, P. Gioioso & Sons, has rescheduled the previously announced overnight lane closure to 10 PM on Monday, March 17 through 6 AM Tuesday, March 18. 

Additionally, one lane of East Street will be closed from 7 AM to 3:30 PM on Tuesday, March 18 through Thursday, March 20.

Full Roadway Closure

We anticipate closing East Street from 9 AM to 2 PM on Friday, March 21. A full detour will be in place during this work. You can view the detour map here.

These roadway closures are necessary so crews can conduct roadway utility work and paving.

Some Commuter Rail parking spaces on Grant Avenue, near the East Street intersection, will be temporarily unavailable during this period.

Adjacent Projects

Additional utility work unrelated to the project is also taking place in the Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project area. 

Travel Tips

Those traveling through the area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution. 

Weather and unexpected circumstances make all construction activities subject to change without notice, but we will do our best to keep you updated.

About the Project

The Dedham East Street Bridge carries the Franklin Line over East Street between Dedham Corporate Center and Endicott Stations. The MBTA will be replacing it with a new bridge that will meet the MBTA’s reliability and modernization standards.
