Seasonal Allergies
With the start of Spring, people may experience seasonal allergies. Around one in every three adults have seasonal allergies. In Massachusetts, the months that allergies symptoms are most common are April, May, and September when the most pollen is in the air.
What are common allergy symptoms?
• Sneezing
• Nasal congestion (stuffy nose)
• Runny nose
• Watery or dry eyes
• Itchy nose or ears
• Reduced sleep
How do I treat seasonal allergies?
• Nasal saline rinses
• Antihistamines (oral or prescription nasal spray)
• Oral decongestants
How can I minimize allergic reactions?
• Wear a medical grade mask when going outside
• Wear gloves when dealing with items exposed to pollen
• Track the pollen count to plan outings and stay up to date
• Use a HEPA air filter
• Shower and change your clothes after going outside
