The following information was provided by the MBTA East Street Bridge Project team on Friday, June 20, through their Project Notification List:
Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project Reminder
While roadway utility work was partially completed in Spring 2025, there is still more work to do before the bridge and roadway are in final condition. We will continue working with utility partners, such as Eversource, Verizon, Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), and Dedham-Westwood Water District (DWWD), to complete the necessary utility work for this project, including drainage improvements. After the utility work is completed, crews will begin the roadway lowering and reconfiguration. This work will take place through Spring 2026.
The reconfigured roadway will provide a final bridge clearance of 14-feet and have 12-foot travel lanes, with 2-foot shoulders, and new sidewalks will be added on both sides of East Street.
In addition, to complete the bridge substructure, we need to install the substructure retaining walls, which will include drilling for the micropiles. This work will be done in Summer through Fall 2025.
We have recorded a new video update, with information about milestones accomplished and upcoming work. You can view the new video update here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1LB0GiHJVg.
