TRAFFIC ALERT: Mt. Vernon/Whiting Ave. Intersection Closed July 12-13 - Detour Information
WHAT: Intersection will be closed to traffic for community mural painting with the Active Transportation Working Group (Learn more about the mural project)
WHEN: Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13; All day
WHERE: Intersection of Mt. Vernon Street and Whiting Ave.

DETOURS/CLOSURES:
- Whiting Ave will be closed at the following intersections*:
- Whiting Ave at Walnut Street - no westbound traffic (toward schools)
- Whiting Ave at Abbot Road - no eastbound traffic (toward schools)
- Whiting Ave at Mt. Vernon - Site of Mural (no traffic in any direction)
- Mt. Vernon Street will be closed at the following intersections*:
- Mt. Vernon Street at Abbott Road - no northbound traffic (toward mural and schools)
- Mt. Vernon Street and road behind Dedham Middle School - no southbound traffic (toward mural)
- *Residents along these sections of roadway will be able to enter/exit their homes; please let Police detail know
- No traffic will be permitted to pass through the intersection of Whiting Ave. and Mt. Vernon Street until the mural painting is complete and dry.
What if my street enters/exits where the road is closed? You can still get to/from your home, but you can't drive through the closed intersection. Use the detour routes to travel around the closed areas.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic direction.
- Detour signs will be posted to help you navigate around the closures.
- Flyers were distributed to abutters and neighbors by the ATWG with project information.
- Please plan for additional travel time and adjust your routes as needed.
- Schedule Changes: If the schedule for the mural is updated as a result of weather, notice will be posted on the Town website homepage (www.dedham-ma.gov) and an email blast will be sent out to subscribers.
- Another event happening this weekend - The Bay State Antique Auto Club (BSAAC) Show is happening nearby at the Endicott Estate on Sunday, July 13 from 7AM to 2PM and is expecting high attendance as in years past.
