MBTA East St Bridge Project Updates

Upcoming road closures and anticipated overnight work

The following information was provided by the MBTA East Street Bridge Project team on Thursday, July 10, through their Project Notification List:

Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project Update

East Street Roadway Closures

The MBTA's contractor, P. Gioioso & Sons, anticipates closing East Street from 7 AM to 4:30 PM on the following dates: 

  • Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18
  • Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25

You can view the detour map here. These closures are necessary so crews can conduct roadway utility and bridge work.

Reminder: Upcoming Overnight Work

The MBTA's contractor also anticipates conducting overnight bridge and track work starting 9 PM on Friday, July 11 through 4 PM on Sunday, July 13.

We do not anticipate roadway or track impacts but this work may have noise impacts.

Adjacent Projects

Additional utility work unrelated to the project is also taking place in the Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project area.

Travel Tips

Those traveling through the area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution. 

Weather and unexpected circumstances make all construction activities subject to change without notice, but we will do our best to keep you updated.

About the Project

The Dedham East Street Bridge carries the Franklin Line over East Street between Dedham Corporate Center and Endicott Stations. The MBTA will be replacing it with a new bridge that will meet the MBTA’s reliability and modernization standards.
