The Town of Dedham is pleased to announce a new partnership with BLACK EARTH COMPOST as our Curbside Food Scrap Collection Preferred Vendor, available now! Dedham has secured grant funds to provide new subscribers with a FREE starter kit—savings of up to $39! This limited-time offer is part of our initial program kick-off, so sign up today!
What is included in the starter kit?
New participants will receive a FREE starter kit that includes a 13-gallon bin and liners (bags) for collecting food waste for pick-up on the curb by Black Earth Compost. Residents have a choice of 4 different pick-up plans. The cost of service is as low as $2.31 per pick-up.
What’s compostable?
All food scraps including meat, bones, dairy, and food-soiled paper products. A full list of accepted materials is available on the BEC website at blackearthcompost.com.
Why compost?
Composting is a powerful way to reduce waste, diverting up to 30% of your trash from landfills. The nutrient-rich finished compost is used to enrich soil for local farms, community gardens, and your own backyard.
How do I enroll?
To sign up for the compost program, please complete the Sign Up form directly on the Black Earth Compost website or on the Town website (www.dedham-ma.gov/compost).
What is the cost of the program?
The program offers 4 different subscription options:
- Weekly Collection: $21.99 / month or $119.99 / 6 month.
- Every Other Week Collection: $16.99 / month or $94.99 / 6 month.
Another Program Note!
The more who sign up, the less you pay (density price reduction)! Once 300 households are enrolled, the price of service for all participants will be reduced up to 17%. Spread the word to friends and neighbors!
