Today we pause to remember and honor those we lost on September 11, 2001.
This morning, our community gathered at Dedham's Public Safety Building for our annual September 11th remembrance ceremony to honor those we lost and the heroes who gave everything to save others. The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of the tragic events that occurred 24 years ago and paid tribute to all who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We honored the memory of the 2,977 innocent lives taken on September 11, 2001, including 343 firefighters and 71 law enforcement officers who died while responding to the attacks. We also remembered the brave military service members who served with honor in the years following 9/11, defending our nation and our freedoms.
Thank you to the Dedham Fire Department, Dedham Police Department, Dispatch team, and all our first responders who continue to serve and protect our community every day. Their unwavering commitment embodies the same spirit of service and sacrifice demonstrated by the heroes of September 11, 2001.
We remember. We honor.
We will never forget their sacrifice and the courage of all first responders who ran toward danger to help others.
We never forget.
