At approximately 12:16 PM today, October 11, Dedham’s E-911 Dispatch Center received multiple calls related to a hit and run crash involving a parked vehicle on Wentworth Street. The vehicle which struck the parked vehicle proceeded to leave the scene and come to a stop at the end of Gibson Ave. The first arriving officer observed one individual flee from the vehicle into the wooded area at the end of Gibson Ave. Witnesses reported a second individual also fled from the vehicle into the wooded area.
It was quickly learned that the vehicle stopped on Gibson Ave had been reported stolen out of Boston on October 9, 2025. Further, the Boston Police were looking for the vehicle in relation to an incident in Hyde Park on October 10, 2025.
Dedham officers, with the assistance of officers from the Boston Police Department, the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council and the Massachusetts State Police established a perimeter around the area and began a search for the two individuals who fled from the vehicle. Officers on foot and in vehicles, canines and drones were used to search. The area was searched for several hours. The parties who fled from the vehicle were not located and are not believed to be in the area any longer. We do not believe there is any threat to the neighborhood.
This incident remains under investigation. Anybody who may have information related to this crash or the parties who fled the scene are encouraged to contact Det. McMillan at 781-326-1212.
