MBTA East St Bridge Project Updates

Upcoming daytime road closure this weekend; daytime closures throughout November

The following information was provided by the MBTA East Street Bridge Project team through their Project Notification List:

Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project Update

East Street Roadway Closures

This is a reminder that the MBTA's contractor, P. Gioioso & Sons, anticipates closing East Street from 7 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 25. Police details will be onsite during this closure.

This detour is necessary so crews can conduct duck bank installation.

Additionally, the MBTA’s contractor anticipates closing East Street on weekdays from 7 AM to 5:30 PM through November. As work on the roadway moves forward, we will continue to provide updates as work and weather impacts change.

Please note, police details will be onsite to allow school buses to travel through the work zone. No construction work will take place on Wednesday, November 26, through Friday, November 28, due to the holiday.

You can view the detour map here. These closures are necessary so crews can conduct roadway utility and bridge work.

Additional utility work unrelated to the project is also taking place in the Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project area.

Travel Tips

Those traveling through the area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution. 

Weather and unexpected circumstances make all construction activities subject to change without notice, but we will do our best to keep you updated.

About the Project

The Dedham East Street Bridge carries the Franklin Line over East Street between Dedham Corporate Center and Endicott Stations. The MBTA will be replacing it with a new bridge that will meet the MBTA’s reliability and modernization standards.
