The Healey-Driscoll Administration recently announced the Town of Dedham was awarded a $105,000 grant to update zoning in the Legacy Boulevard area under the FY26 Community One Stop for Growth Program. Dedham’s successful application to the One Stop program signifies Commonwealth’s support and importance of economic development in the Town of Dedham.

“This funding from the Healey-Driscoll Administration will be crucial to supporting smart economic growth in the Legacy Boulevard area” said Town Manager Leon Goodwin.  “I am thankful to the Executive Office of Economic Development for facilitating and delivering this funding, and I am excited for the opportunity to build upon the success and momentum of the Legacy Boulevard area.”

The FY2026 Community One Stop for Growth program, consisting of 13 different grant programs that fund economic development projects, allocates funding to applicants for planning, zoning, construction, and infrastructure related local projects. This grant funding will be used to review and potentially update zoning to accommodate further commercial and residential growth in the Legacy Boulevard area, which includes the well-known Legacy Place lifestyle center. This grant will build upon the recent $1M MassWorks grant aimed at enhancing the Legacy Boulevard area’s infrastructure previously awarded in 2024.

“The Planning Board looks forward to conducting a robust community planning process and incorporating feedback from the many property owners, businesses, residents, and visitors of the area,” said Planning Board Chair John Bethoney. “No plan is successful without the full participation of Dedham stakeholders, including residents and business owners.”

As next steps, the Town will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) in early 2026 for a consultant team to assist the Planning Board and Town of Dedham with the project.  The Planning Board will also appoint a working group consisting of area property owners, businesses, and residents to work with Town staff and the consultant team to develop a plan.  It is anticipated that a project website will be available in by January 2026 to provide more details on the project as it moves forward.
