Dedham High School was selected as the host site for Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll's announcement of the Commonwealth's new Statewide High School Graduation Framework on Monday, December 1. The Healey-Driscoll Administration's choice to unveil this significant education initiative at Dedham High School recognizes our community's long-standing commitment to educational excellence and innovation.

A POINT OF PRIDE FOR DEDHAM

The selection of Dedham as the venue for this statewide announcement reflects the consistent and collaborative work of our educators, students, families, and community partners. From establishing the nation's first taxpayer-supported public school to today's comprehensive academic offering, including a state-aligned curriculum, the Seal of Biliteracy program, and extensive Advanced Placement courses, Dedham continues its legacy of educational leadership.

"I'm honored for our town to host this important announcement that speaks to the innovation and leadership of Dedham's educational commitment," said Select Board Chair Erin Boles Welsh, a proud Dedham High School graduate and current parent of students in Dedham's schools who noted she received her own diploma in the same auditorium where today's announcement took place. "We're excited to be recognized for our comprehensive offerings including a state-aligned curriculum, the Seal of Biliteracy that encourages language acquisition, and a wide range of AP courses that help our students get a head start on college credits."

"Today's announcement honors not just our schools, but the partnership between town government and our educational system that has defined Dedham since we established the first taxpayer-supported public school in America," said Town Manager Leon I Goodwin III. "The strong relationship between the Town and our schools allows us to find the right balance of investments that serve both our students and our broader community. When we work together with a common purpose, everyone benefits."

WORKING TOGETHER FOR LASTING RESULTS

This recognition demonstrates what our community can accomplish through sustained collaboration. The event brought together Governor Healey, Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, state education officials, Representative Paul McMurtry, Senator Mike Rush, graduation council members, parents, students, and community partners, all working toward shared goals that benefit Dedham's young people.

The new graduation framework will help ensure Massachusetts students are prepared for success in college, careers, and civic life.
