During the early morning hours of December 4, a resident received an alert from his surveillance video system.  Our resident checked the video and reported observing two individuals attempting to enter his vehicle.  The vehicle was in our resident’s driveway at the time.  The video provided a description of two suspects. 

Multiple officers, along with members of the Massachusetts State Police and Boston Police Department, responded to the area to search for the suspects.  While searching, officers believe they observed several other vehicles which showed signs of being entered.

 In the area of East Street and Brookdale Ave, Officer Twomey observed an individual who appeared to match the description of one of the suspects.  The suspect attempted to avoid Officer Twomey and a Massachusetts State Trooper.  A second suspect was then observed in the area.  The second suspect ran from officers.  Officer Twomey was able to detain the first suspect.

 Based on evidence obtained from multiple surveillance systems, the suspect detained by Officer Twomey (a 16-year-old male from Mattapan), was placed under arrest.  Charges include attempting/breaking into a depository.

 At this time, vehicles on Columbia Terrace, Willis Street, Lower East Street, and East Street appear to have been impacted.  Any community member who may have information or surveillance video related to these crimes are encouraged to call 781 326-1212 and to preserve any video.

 We urge all to ensure that your vehicles are locked every time you leave your vehicle unattended.  Please do not leave any valuables or keys in your vehicle.  If possible, park in well lit areas and if available, within range of video surveillance systems.  If you see or hear anything suspicious, call 911 with as much descriptive information as possible for an officer to respond.
