MBTA East St Bridge Project Updates

Work to resume in April with daytime road closures; substantial completion expected Spring 2026

The following information was provided by the MBTA East Street Bridge Project team through their Project Notification List:

Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project Update

East Street Roadway Closures

The MBTA's contractor, P. Gioioso & Sons, will restart roadway utility and bridge work in early April. To accommodate the work, we anticipate closing East Street on weekdays from 7 AM to 3:30 PM through the end of April.

Adjacent Projects

Additional utility work unrelated to the project is also taking place in the Dedham East Street Bridge Replacement Project area.

Travel Tips

Those traveling through the area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution. 

Weather and unexpected circumstances make all construction activities subject to change without notice, but we will do our best to keep you updated.

About the Project

The Dedham East Street Bridge carries the Franklin Line over East Street between Dedham Corporate Center and Endicott Stations. The MBTA will be replacing it with a new bridge that will meet the MBTA’s reliability and modernization standards.
