Town Awarded $30,395 State Grant for Sawmill Park

Funds to help bring pollinator habitat, walking trail, educational signage, and seed station to Town-owned parcel
Post Date:03/31/2026 1:30 pm

The Town of Dedham is pleased to announce it has been selected as one of only 12 recipients statewide to receive funding through the Massachusetts Community Biodiversity Grant Program. The $30,395 award will be used to transform a one-acre parcel at 21 Sawmill Lane into a neighborhood park and pollinator habitat.

Funds will be used to create a walking trail along Mother Brook planted with native wildflowers and grasses, a rain garden to filter stormwater, educational signage, a free community seed-sharing station, and a nature-themed art walk on Sawmill Bridge created in partnership with the Mother Brook Arts & Community Center.

The Massachusetts Community Biodiversity Grant Program is a new initiative from the Massachusetts Department of Fish & Game to support locally-led projects to restore biodiversity across the State and connect people with nature through education and awareness.
