About

Designing Dedham 2030 (DD2030) is a town-wide master plan process that sets a direction for town goals and activities for the next 10 years. DD2030 will be built upon previous master plan efforts and will strive to achieve the following objectives:

  • Stimulate open discussion about how to best accommodate potential growth regarding housing and job creation in Dedham;
  • Provide an opportunity for people to engage meaningfully in person and digitally with plan content throughout the process;
  • Ensure the implementation of planning from a Public Health of "livability" perspective; and
  • Maintain a robust public process and continue creative engagement  to ensure Designing Dedham 2030 fairly reflects the community.

Furthermore, the Town  seeks DD2030 to be the following:

  • A concise, yet comprehensive, graphically based document designed to provide a basis for decision-making about the Town's future;
  • Articulates an easily understood vision of the Town's future, which is crafted from a wide and varied range of community perspectives, past and current studies/plans and offers as inspirational outlook; and
  • Grounding this vision in a clear and creative, specific, realistic, and cost-effective implementation strategy.

DD2030 Consultant Team & Committee

Building upon the work of the MPIC and many previous planning efforts, the Town selected the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) as the consultant team to assist with the development of DD2030.

In the Fall 2019, a 17-member Master Plan Implementation Committee (MPIC) was established to:

  • Provide input and guidance throughout the Designing Dedham 2030 process, community engagement, and plan content;
  • Provide a direct connection to specific topic-areas and communicate information to and from a cross-section of groups and interests in the community; and
  • Act as plan and process "ambassadors" and assist in community outreach and dissemination of information.
