Certain tax exemptions and deferrals are available to taxpayers who meet specific criteria. The fact sheets below, created by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, provide general information about these local property tax exemptions and deferrals. 

Massachusetts HERO Act Expanded

Disabled veterans in Massachusetts are exempt from paying excise tax on one passenger vehicle or pick-up truck. To qualify, the vehicle must be:

• owned by the veteran;
• used for non-commercial purposes; AND
• veteran must have a 100% disability rating or be deemed unemployable by the VA due to a service-connected disability.
