FY26 Massachusetts Community Biodiversity Grant Program

• Purpose: This project involves revegetating and improving the existing town-owned parcel at 21 Sawmill Lane, adjacent to Condon Park. The grant will fund the installation of 11 native tree saplings, 117 shrubs and wildflowers, a stone-dust pathway, a rain garden that will improve stormwater quality and contribute to MS4 compliance, educational signage, and a bench for wildlife viewing. The Department of Public Works will contribute the labor of installing the plantings and other features as part of an in-kind staff time match. 

FY26 FIFA World Cup Funding - Safety and Security

• Purpose: Funding will go towards assigning Dedham Police Officers to monitor various locations for up to 12 hours a day during FIFA World Cup events taking place near Dedham. 

SFY26 Body Worn Cameras (BWC) Program

• Purpose: The Police Department has been awarded $181,978 through the 
  Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) Law Enforcement Body-Worn Camera Program. The program was created through funding allocated in the FY22-FY26 State’s Capital Plan. FY26 marks the fifth and final year of the program, which assists municipal police departments with the cost to implement or expand body-worn camera programs. This year’s program received a large response from municipal police departments, with 85 departments submitting requests totaling $9,498,084. Due to limited available funding, OGR is issuing awards totaling approximately $3.49 million to 32 local police departments, Dedham being one of them. 

FY26 Community Planning Grant Program - Legacy Blvd. Mixed-Use District Zoning Update

• Purpose: This funding will be used to hire a consultant to understand the development potential and zoning necessary to support future economic growth for the vibrant mixed-use are centered around legacy place. The project goals include:

1. Conduct a collaborative community planning process for a regional economic center;
2. Set the stage for future growth in a changing economy; and
3. Incentivize public realm improvements and maintain the Town's commercial tax base. 

MassDOT Vulnerable Road User (VRU) Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) Assessment Grant

• Purpose: The Town was awarded through the MassDOT VRU RRFB Assessment Grant, a total of 9 pairs of RRFB to be installed at various intersections within town. A pair of RRFB assemblies cost approximately $15,000 so the value of this grant is approximately $135,000. MassDOT procures and delivers the RRFB assemblies and the Town installs them. 

MassWorks Infrastructure Program - Legacy Boulevard Project

• Purpose: This funding will produce 100% engineering design specification, permitting, and bid preparation to enable construction of public improvement such as roadway widening, sidewalks, and utility upgrades. Land and Water Conservation Fund
