Overview

All state, county, and municipal employees are required by law to complete ethics training requirements. (Source: MA State Ethics Commission)

  • Annual Requirement: Acknowledge receipt of a summary of the conflict of interest law each year
  • Biennial Requirement: Complete online ethics training every two years

The Town of Dedham must retain records of compliance for 6 years.


Getting Started

Access the Training Program

All state, county, and municipal employees use the same unified training system:

You will need to create an account in the Commission's learning management system to:

  • Complete the online training program
  • Acknowledge receipt of the conflict of interest law summary

Deadlines

Summary Acknowledgment:

  • New employees: Within 30 days of election or appointment
  • Current employees: Annually thereafter
  • Employee acknowledgment deadline: Within 10 business days of receipt (Town of Dedham requirement)

Online Training:

  • New employees: Within 30 days of election or appointment
  • All employees: Every 2 years thereafter

Note: Your completion of these mandatory requirements will be automatically recorded in the state system.

Training Information

What You Need:

  • Any computer or mobile device with internet access (work, home, or public)
  • Approximately 1 hour to complete the training

Accessing the Program:

  • The training can be completed on any device
  • No special software required for the current system
  • Your progress is automatically saved

Helpful Tips:

  • Headphones recommended if completing in a shared space
  • Take breaks as needed—the system saves your progress
  • Review the FAQ page if you encounter issues

At Completion:

  • Your completion is automatically recorded in the state system
  • You must also submit documentation to the Town Clerk's office
  • Keep a copy for your personal records
