2022 was a busy year for the DOSA! We collaborated with many different organizations and volunteers to spread awareness about substance use and mental health. In partnership with the Dedham Youth Commission, we organized a successful youth coalition consisting of middle school students and high school interns, giving students the opportunity to be peer leaders and make an impact on their community. As we enter our fifth grant year, DOSA looks forward to continue our work creating a healthy, substance-free environment for youth!

Youth Action Team

The Youth Action Team met after school every Monday in Dedham Middle School. The team consisted of Rob Blaney and Greg Cabral of the Dedham Youth Commission, Program Director Krissy King, Charles Boateng along with high school and middle school youth. The team worked on updating DOSA’s resource page to include more resources like Dignity Matters, a non-profit organization that collects, purchases and supplies feminine hygiene products. Another project was mental health posters which includes mindfulness quotes and encourages healthy practices like going outside, connecting with friends and where to find mental health support.
