The Facilities Master Plan Steering Committee has been established to guide the Town and School Department in developing a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (FMP). The plan will provide a comprehensive, long-term vision for capital investment, maintenance, improvement, and potential adaptation of school and municipal facilities and available public land, ensuring alignment with community needs, educational goals, and fiscal responsibility.

Authority & Oversight

  1. The Committee is jointly accountable to the School Committee and the Select Board.
  2. Final approval of the Facilities Master Plan rests with the School Committee (for school facilities) and the Select Board (for municipal facilities).
  3. The Committee will recommend actions, but it does not hold independent appropriations authority.

Members

Membership will include a balanced representation of stakeholders, with 10 voting members and at least 6 non-voting town employees with critical expertise. Having an even number of voting members is designed to help the FMP Steering Committee work toward reaching consensus given the importance of designing a process and reaching recommendations that meet the needs of the entire Dedham community.
