The Open Space & Recreation Subcommittee is a subcommitee of the Conservation Commission, comprising of 7 residents including 2 Conservation Commission members, a member of the Select Board or its designee, a member of Planning Board or its designee, a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission or its designee, and two members at large appointed by the Conservation Commission. The Open Space & Recreation Subcommittee conducts continuous review and oversight of the Open Space Plan for the Town. Its duties include:

1. Keeping the Town current with State requirements for open space or recreation plans and with opportunities and eligibility for State funding;
2. Reviewing and revising a Five-Year Action Plan for open space preservation and recreational needs;
3. Increasing public awareness and support of open or recreational space through education, advocacy, and promotion of land trusts, conservation, or agricultural restrictions for suitable properties

Meetings

The Open Space & Recreation Subcommittee typically meets on the first Monday or Tuesday of every month. Public meeting dates and times are posted at Town Hall and the Dedham Public Library at least 48 hours before each meeting in compliance with the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Meeting agendas will also be posted on this website.
