The purpose of the Committee is to evaluate options to assist seniors in managing rising property taxes. The Committee will make recommendations to the Select Board and to Town Meeting for future possible action.

Members

The composition of the Committee was proposed by the proponents and approved by Town Meeting. The Moderator will appoint the four members, listed below. The Select Board, the Board of Assessors, the Finance and Warrant Committee, the Town Treasurer/ Collector and the Council on Aging will appoint an additional 5 members.

• One resident aged 65 or older.
• One resident aged 65 or older with experience in municipal finance, real estate or related fields.
• One representative of a senior advocacy or community services organization.
• One resident with interest or expertise in property tax policy, economic development or local government.
